Wine groving is an agricultular branch that deals with the cultivation of european (homemade,
noble) vine (Vitis vinifera) as well as the grape production. Besides Paradiso autocamp,
family Šaić enables you to taste top quality selections of both white and red dry wine once
you check into their camp. Brands that family Šaić makes are:
– Plavac mali is the most importamnt native grape variety in Croatia. It is resisant to the
fungal diseasses. The fruit is firm with a thick skin and very sweet. The wine is dark-
the colour of ruby with the blue reflection, nicely developed smell and sour taste. The
best types of these wines are developed in Postup and Dingač on the Pelješac
peninsula. The wines get their names based on the position, some also get other
names. Dingač is the first, and Postup the second protected red wine in Croatia (1961,
i.e. 1967.).
– Rukatac is the name for a white wine that can also be called Mariština. It is the most
common type of white wine in Pelješac peninsula. You can taste the cherry maraska in
this wine, assuming that is the reason this wine got its name.
– Postup is the top quality red wine produced from the grape variety of Plavac mali,
especially from Postup, on the south slopes of the peninsula. It is served at room
temperature with the dark meat, venison, roasting, cheese, fried/marinated blue fish
and fish stew.
